Yogic Bhavas and Koshas

Cost: $60.00
4 Hours CE credits
Bhava in it's most available translation means subtle feeling. Like many Sanskrit words, it cannot be perfectly translated because our modern languages lack the vibration that ancient languages evoke. Sanskrit was and still is a vibrational language and the Vedas, the origin of Yoga, was an oral tradition.
The word Asana is translated into posture; posture into attitude.
When a Yogic posture is infused with a subtle feeling or Bhava through intention, the posture moves more deeply through the sheaths of the yogi's being, pulling out the dormant wisdom that lies beneath the mundane.
This workshop will cover the five Koshas or sheaths of the human being as well as the four main Bhavas or subtle feelings invoked through asana, pranayama, and Yoga kriya(cleansing technique).
Attendants will learn how practices are categorized into a certain Bhava based on the feelings those practices emanate with intention.
Ancient stories, demonstrations, Hatha practice, and discussion will be the model for learning.
This workshop is geared towards Yoga teachers, who would like to infuse these ancient knowings into their teachings and towards students, who are interested in Yoga philosophy to deepen their current practice. If you have had the pleasure of taking one of Dawns sunday classes you know you are in for a treat! She truly practices what she preaches!
