FAQs
(Frequently Asked Questions)
1. What should I bring to class?

  • Bring water to complete the release of toxins that will move out of the body after practice. Please drink only small amounts or no water during class, but hydrate yourself well before and after class. If you forget your water bottle, we have water for purchase at $1.00/bottle.
  • Bring a yoga matIf you do not have a mat, we have mats to rent for $1.00, but be prepared to buy a yoga mat soon!
  • Wear comfortable clothes. You do not need special yoga-wear, but you do need clothing that allows you to move freely and in which you are comfortable.

2.  What if I have an injury or limitation?

  • Please share with your teacher any injuries or limitations before class so that we can offer you the best practice for your current needs.
  • You know best which props you need. If you are in doubt, ask the teacher.

3. How often should I attend class?

  • Take as many classes as your schedule allows, preferably three times a week, so the practice becomes part of your life.
  • If you are unable to attend class, try practicing at home with a video or audio tape, or practice a sequence of poses from your memory.

4. Why is the studio so warm?

  • The studio is kept warm for the purpose of helping your body to stay warm, aiding you in the asana practice and allowing you to go deeper and further without the risk of injury.
  • Sweating helps detoxify the body and eliminates fluids from your joints to make them more agile.
5.  What else do I need to know?

  • NO shoes are permitted in the practice area. Please remove your shoes and leave them in the shelves in the entry room.
  • Be on time - preferably 15 minutes early - for all classes. If you must come in once class is started, do so quietly - unravel your mat outside or sit on a blanket and set your mat after the quiet centering portion of the class.
  • Avoid eating or drinking stimulants (such as coffee) for several hours before class.
  • Please do not wear perfume or any strong scent. If possible bathe or shower prior to practice.
  • Please leave your cell phone/MP3 player, etc.in the car and use a soft tone of voice in the studio.
  • Get the props you need before class, so you can focus on the poses. Blocks and straps are helpful in progressing in your practice.
  • Suspend all judgments. Let go of how far you were able to go yesterday or what somebody else is able to do.
  • Love your body. Be kind and loving to yourself... to who you are in this moment.
